JULIAN WAS HERE
03:08
|
|||
it's nice to see you it has been too long
i haven't been invited but i've come
i just love these things
how have you held up thru all the noise?
did that life we shared leave any choice?
don't act like you've never met me now
i still challenge you and all that's changed is how
a sense of humor has to be allowed
now
now, your opinions please
should we let the kinksters march at pride?
are all acts of kindness justified?
i'm just asking questions!
do you think she's faking when she cries?
don't you think it's sad when someone dies?
don't act like it's never crossed your mind
there has to be such a thing as crime
we must let certain fixities suffice
now
now, the gun is in your hand
it's nice to see you it has been too long
i've thought up lots of questions being gone
a privilege, really
how have you held up thru all the noise?
has it felt like you've had any choice?
don't act like it's never crossed your mind
there must be something more to life
than crimes and what punishments suffice
right?

GIRLS LIKE US
03:30
|
|||
a sheet of ice falls at night
makes everything look collectible in the sunlight
cold in my prison of integrity
or is it honesty? i see straight thru
i hope you're not sick of doing silly things with me
with no girls like us there'd simply be no poetry
a string of knots form a chain
of precious days, a little rhythm in this long sigh
a grave made out of waiting turned and pecked my face
i'm not alone, i'm so alive
i hope you're not used to hearing things like this from me
with no girls like us there'd simply be no poetry
it's better now i've had
enough time to myself
to hold all that i have
and know that when we come
we come back
a peal of rain bares the day
abrades away another layer of this city
i whistle thru coffee teeth and i'm away
i'm arriving now from where you'll be
i hope you're not sick of hearing things like this from me
with no girls like us there'd simply be no poetry
it's better now i've had
enough time to myself
to hold all that i have
and know that when we come
we come back

MY MAJESTY
03:17
|
|||
happy anniversary
to our child grieving
what she resembles to herself
only symptomatically
woman on her phone in the road
coiffed and friendly dog in tow
all this water fades to wind
we do good business here
burnt wicker in the lane
one turn out by the cape
once braided tails of kites
grey studs on every bench
men shouting at the air
when progress moves the pen
that's just human
grey studs on every bench
men shouting at the air
when progress moves the pen
that's just human animation
yesterday the water looked good enough to write on, but the wind was blowing...
a man crossed my path with his camera out
i looked to the handrail, calculating "safe distance"
the man moved past me purposefully, pointing his camera at the bridge from a spot where, for some reason, no rain was falling...
i looked ahead, and a cyclist nearly took me down from behind
there is not always time for "safe distance"
grey sand of empty beach
raindrops, a grain of sand for each

A PAEAN AWAY
02:21
|
|||
i'm withering my friend, i miss you every day
i'm dithering again, half beside myself
i've done it again, shown my ugly side
but i've hidden it again
oh, forgive me please
i'm sick of this my friend, you got what you want
don't mention it again, why must you hide from me?
ambivalence is sin, i've still got my pride
you oughtta just let me in
why do you hate me so?
if only you weren't so sure you were right!
why do you hate me so?
i'm penitent my friend, i live thru silence
the irony's immense, so much to say to you
they say the best defense is your ugly side..
